In the year of 1947, Evangelist Charlie Jiles from Groveland, Florida started a meeting under a tent on a little hill located on the street of North Appletree Street where many people were saved and healed of different kinds of illness.  

Elder N. Scippio, wife and daughter came from Florida and joined the saints working under the tent praying and praising God.  Some of the members were Sister Mary Beachem, Sister Channie Beachem, Sister Ware, Sister Wilbon, Elder McKinney, Sister McDaniel, Sister Jewel Flowers, Sister Johnnie Beachem, Elder Samuel Beachem, Sister Helen Beachem, Elder Charlie Mitchell, and Elder Smiley.

The General Church purchased the land located at the corner of Dykes Alley and North College Street and built the Church of God by Faith.  The building was erected by Elder Willie W. Matthew, who was District Elder at that time.

The church was dedicated in the year of 1947 and Elder Matthew was appointed the first pastor and served 1947-1964.

Our records show that the following pastors have served this fellowship:

Elder J.C. Smith, Elder Samuel Beachem, Jr., Elder Ralph Bivins, Elder Eddie James Smith, and Elder Noah Smith(retired). In December 2019, the National Church of God by Faith, Inc., Executive Board placed the church under the direct supervision of the District Superintendent.

We believe that each of these Elders have served and are serving with  God’s  purpose for which He has given them to the glory of God.

We relocated to this location in 2000.  

We have come this far by faith and we are giving God the glory for everything that he has done.
